Roshibina Devi Wins Silver in Wushu, Becomes First Indian to Medal at Three Successive Asian Games

Nagoya, September 24: Indian wushu star Naorem Roshibina Devi created history by winning the silver medal in the women's 60kg Sanda event at the 2026 Asian Games.

Roshibina lost to China's Zhang Xiaoyu in the gold-medal bout. Zhang won both rounds to take the gold, while Roshibina secured silver.

The silver medal marks Roshibina's third consecutive Asian Games medal. She won bronze at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games and silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Games before adding another silver in Aichi-Nagoya.

Her latest achievement makes her the first Indian wushu athlete to win medals at three successive editions of the Asian Games. She has established a consistent record at the continental level over three editions.

Roshibina reached the final after defeating Macao China's Chu Man Sin in the quarter-finals and Indonesia's Thania Kusumaningtyas in the semi-finals. She ultimately finished second after the final against Zhang Xiaoyu.

Her silver medal adds another significant achievement to India's Asian Games campaign.

India Thrash South Korea 8-2 in Asian Games 2026 Hockey

Kakamigahara, September 24: The Indian men's hockey team produced a commanding performance at the Asian Games 2026, defeating South Korea 8-2 in their Pool A match.

The victory was India's third consecutive win in Pool A and strengthened its position in the competition. Hockey India described the result as India's best-ever scoreline against South Korea in Asian Games history.

Dilpreet Singh and Abhishek scored two goals each, while captain Harmanpreet Singh, Rajinder Singh, Sukhjeet Singh and Shilanand Lakra also found the net.

Dilpreet's two goals took his tournament tally to nine, putting him at the top of the men's competition's goal-scoring list at the time of the match.

India controlled large stretches of the game and continued its high-scoring run in the tournament. The result also moved the defending champions closer to securing a place in the semi-finals.

The Indian team will now look to maintain its momentum in the remaining Pool A matches as it targets another strong Asian Games campaign.
